Blue Spring at Putaruru.

#thehunternz #hunting #water #spring #pure The 9 ¹/⁴" buck chamois I shot last roar at Nelson Lakes NP. My planning for this year's roar has officially started!

My favourite New Zealand bird for sure. These little alpine birds are a welcome distraction and I could spend hours trying to get a focused photo of one. They are constantly moving and fluttering about.

This head is in a separate class to 12" bulls and if he had matching lamb tips would have measured near on 15 inches, I think.

This head has horns of 12 5/8" length and 8 1/8" bases, with that nice curve back at the tips. It appears quite long and slender.

I think there are four types. These did have a yellow centre but the colour has faded in just a week since being picked. I found them on a dry, rocky area around 1,600masl.

This appeared to be their favourite variety. I know it as "Mountain Daisy". #thehunternz #flower #hunting #alpine #mountainflower #mountaindaisy The tahr were seeking out these white alpine flowers to feed on. I think they are called "Celmisia". #thehunternz #flower #hunting #alpine #mountainflower Bull tahr number two for the trip. This one is only 12 1/8 inches and is a younger animal which had good potential because it had strong lamb tips.

This is the very first large bull tahr that I shot and his horns are 12 6/8 inches, with 9 1/8th of an inch bases. Pretty stoked.
