30 May 201711 July 2017 / The Hunter (NZ)

Review rating 5 out of 10.

Alison has written a very niche but interesting history book about Arapawa goats. With a limited print run of 100 copies I would encourage collectors to get in touch with her to add it to your bookshelf … read more

Alpine hunter in the clouds.
Solo camps on flat ground in steep places. MSR seems like it could mean mountainous solo reconnaissance, but it doesn't.
Tahr and chamois hunt scene on a long walk back to camp.
Scope swaped and re-sighted on my 7mm08 at 100m. Now it's all ready for spring hunting trips. 0.75MOA is one of the tighter groups from this rifle which is usually MOA at best.
Fallow buck. Nice representative head and skin. Love the dark colour phase too.
Winter alpine camp on the Nelson Lakes tops. Keas destroyed my 4-season tent in the tahr ballot so I used this light weight tarp. It was cold. Few chamois and stags about.
Sitting there all frozen on a mountain side thinking "Why do we love this alpine hunting?". It's Type 2 fun.
Tussock, snow and cold feet.
Snow on the tops. Flying to Christchurch for a work meeting then heading to the Alps for a looksee in a tahr ballot block.
Kea. None at Mount Cook last week. I wonder if there will be any on the West Coast given the huge quantity of poison in both areas this autumn.
Golden tussock faces and cloud.
Chamois rut. Bit of action.
